About the Workshop This weekend workshop aims to be a transformative training for your body to break free from your physical limitations and a liberating training for your mind to open up to higher experiences. Each session targets a specific action or a specific part of the body. The fourth and last session will completely focus on mind transformative practices, which will improve the power of your intellect to gain clarity over confusion, willpower over weaknesses and wisdom over ignorance. This is an all-level workshop. Schedule & Description Session 1: 30 May (Saturday) 9:30 am -12:00pm: The Unfolding Lotus This will be a hip opening practice. This session will target tight spots and restrictions around the hip area. By exploring and understanding how your hips work and by training the legs and hips through different yoga poses including long holds in some yin-style poses, you will gain more freedom of movement in the hips. The ultimate goal of this session is to empower you to get into lotus pose (padmasana) and hold it for long duration without pain. Session 2: 30 May (Saturday) 2:00pm - 4:30pm: Charming the Serpent This session will be dedicated to removing stiffness from the spine through the work of forward bends, back bends, twists, binds, side stretches and body rotations, so that your spine finds the freedom to move like a serpent. This practice will also help awaken the Kundalini (the serpent power) within. Session 3:31 May (Sunday) 9:30 am -12:00pm: Channelling the Fire The navel centre (manipura chakra) holds the power of the fire element. In this session, your core will be strengthened first and then you will learn in detail, how to channel this fire power of the core into the upper limbs. You will receive enough training, support and strength to do arm balancing postures and inversions such as headstand comfortably and thereby taking your yoga practice to the next level. Session 4: 31 May (Sunday) 2:00pm - 4:30 pm: Illuminating the Mind When the obstacles of the mind 'avidya' are removed, the inner divinity within illuminates the mind. Hence, in this session, practices such as breathing exercises (pranayama), chanting (mantra japa) and meditation (dhyana), which help remove the mental obstacles will be practised. These will purify the mind and enrich its ability to focus and to act. Hence, a yogi is able to overcome the challenges of life or even death. More details visit:
