Learn how to use yoga muscle balancing techniques to help yourself or your students with scoliosis get more out of yoga practice by increasing awareness and correction of muscle imbalances, preventing scoliosis from progressing, and reducing pain and dysfunction.
Includes instruction in self assessment and assessment of others using both observation and use of specific yoga poses as well as participation in a sample class demonstrating how to work with different scoliosis patterns in class and private sessions.
Please bring a somewhat fitted white t-shirt that can be written on, a notebook for notetaking, and 1-2 pound wrist or ankle weights if you have them.
Wear clothing that is not too loose and that shows your knees so that your structure can be observed.
This workshop is open to yoga teachers as well as students with scoliosis who would like to learn more about their condition and how to use yoga to help themselves.

Stacy Foust Renz is an occupational therapist and professional yoga therapist trained through Integrative Yoga Therapy. She is the owner of Living Room Yoga, LLC in St. Petersburg, FL and the founder of Life Balance Yoga Therapy teacher training programs. She has been teacher yoga for scoliosis classes since 2004. Students report a greater awareness of their bodies and themselves as well as less pain and fewer visits to their chiropractors as a result of participating in the yoga for scoliosis classes.
