Since 2006, my friend Stephanie and her family have been fighting for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Stephanie’s niece Dayna Jenae (9) was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis shorty after her birth in 2006. Cystic Fibrosis, (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. An estimated 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide) have CF. In 2014, Stephanie started the Columbia, South Carolina chapter of Dayna's Dream Team and we will be walking Sunday May 16, 2015 in Irmo, SC. This year we also have teams walking in Poughkeepsie N.Y., Gainesville, FL, and Pt. Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. Real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. There still is no cure for this devastating disease. By walking today, I am helping add tomorrows to the lives of people living with cystic fibrosis.
