The OFFSTAGE Theatre Group presents...
by Peter Quilter
It is Barrie's birthday and his personal assistant Janet is helping him get ready for the party. As they discuss getting older, marriage and love (or Janet's lack of it), it becomes clear that she would be quite content to settle down with Barrie. Unfortunately, Barrie is more interested in men, but that doesn't stop him from booking them both on a cruise as a birthday present to himself.
This, the first of the one-act plays, has been nominated for many prestigious awards in the theatre community. This version is being directed by Lloyd Morgans.
'Waiting For A Friend'
by Barnaby Eaton-Jones
Norman Fairbanks is a man who likes the outdoors. A creature of habit, he spends every lunchtime on the same park bench and eats his neatly-packaged packed lunch whilst admiring the views of Mother Nature. However, there's nothing Norman likes more than to talk and, within the course of this lunchtime, his unexpected companions on his favourite bench get a bit more than they bargained for when they briefly enter his domain.
This, the second of the one-act plays, has won three awards in the original tour of 2001. This version is being directed by Barnaby Eaton-Jones and features the original award-winning actors, Bob Roberts and Kim Jones, in the roles they originated.
Both of these one-act plays are being performed in aid of charity, with nobody involved from the theatre group taking any fee, and are produced for the stage by The OFFSTAGE Theatre Group.
