Join the Rotaract Club of Nairobi Central (RCNC) as they travel for a mentorship and treeplanting exercise at A.C.K Ukia Mixed Secondary School in Wote, Makueni County on 16th May, 2015. The mixed day school was started in 2010 and RCNC has supported the school through the A Girl A K A Year Sanitary Towels (HPads for Girls) and Booksdrive Project.
Among the topics to be covered during the interactive mentorship session include: education, health, service to humanity and environmental conservation. There will be a session to plant indigenous and fruit seedlings around the school to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity celebrated globally on 22nd May.
The school does not have a science laboratory hence hindering science practicals (biology, chemistry and physics) and performance. The budget of the whole project is estimated at Ksh 2million and out of this Ksh 500,000 has been raised and construction started.
Contributions (In kind such as cement, iron sheets, sand, paint, water tank etc or cash) towards their science laboratory project are welcome and maybe sent to RCNC's Assistant Treasurer (Marylyn Musyimi) on 0726 710147 or during the next RCNC meeting on 5th May, 2015 at Laico Regency Hotel at 6pm.
GETTING THERE: Meeting point is bus stop at St. Peters Clavers Primary School at 7am. Departure will at 7.30am as the programme begins a 10am. Those who come after 7.30am are requested to proceed to the bus terminus behind OTC where public transport to Makueni is available. The school is 53km from Machakos Town and 17km to Makueni Town. Estimated bus fare (via public transport) to and from Ukia is Ksh 800.
NOTE: Carry your own lunch and drinking water. Dress appropriately for the weather.The school shall provide camping ground for those who wish to stay overnight. Please bring your own camping gear.
