First day of solo Patrol and this True Blue Hero, just 21 years old, gave His Life so others may live:
Wisconsin State Patrol
State Trooper Trevor Casper
End Of Watch: 03-24-15 (2nd of 2 this day)
Trooper Trevor Casper, 21, was shot and killed during a gun battle with a killer bank robber (details below). Born with a soul that has Courage to wear the Badge, Trooper Casper had just graduated academy three months ago, 19 December. After completing his In Service Field Training, Brother Trevor began his first night of solo patrol assigned out of the Fond du Lac station post... it would be his last.
On 24 March 2015, 1343hours, an armed suspect fired a shot inside a bank, stole cash, and fled the scene in a bank employee's vehicle that he stole.
At 1435hours, Police searching for the suspect came across a victim, Mr. Thomas C. Christ, found deceased from gunshot lying near his truck that was still idling. Authorities found the stolen get-away vehicle near by this scene. Law Enforcement piece together that Mr. Christ must have encountered the robbery suspect who was stealing another vehicle where Mr. Christ was and the suspect shot and killed this innocent man.
At 1730hours, Trooper Casper found himself behind the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Trooper Casper radioed other officers and was arriving on scene as the gunfight began. As Trooper Casper made contact with the suspect, a gun-battle erupted. Trooper Casper was shot but continued to fire on the suspect to stop the threat to all others. He did just that ... the suspect died on scene. Fellow Officers witnessed their Brother take out the suspect and then go down himself.
Fellow officers administered emergency life-saving attempts and Trooper Casper was transported to the hospital. Sadly, and with heavy heart, this proved to be our Brother's first and final battle ... State Trooper Trevor Casper succumbed to injuries, laying down his life so others may live.
