The Friends of Gillespie Park invite you on a walk led by Islington Tree Wardens in Gillespie Park, looking at and learning about the trees there.
This is a free opportunity to discover more about our local trees. We walk around the park, exchanging knowledge and will help you use our one-page ‘tree key‘ (bit.ly/treekey) to identify which tree is which. Learning how to identify trees will last you a lifetime. Some of us know a lot. Most come to look and learn. Gather in the cafe afterwards for a chat (optional).
Please meet us at 3pm on Sunday 17th May in the ecology Centre Cafe – map here:https://email@example.com,-0.1058653,18z?hl=en postcode N5 1PH
Complete beginners are welcome – several of us know very little, some of us know quite a bit and we’re all keen to learn.
If you have any books/guides/apps on your phone that might help give us a key to tree identification, please bring them along.
Photographers are welcome – we always looking to add to our list of identified trees and hope you’ll contribute a few of the pictures you take if you wish.
The Tree Walk is intended to last around an hour. Rain will not stop us – wise to be prepared though.
Please note that you don’t have to be a tree warden to join in – many people simply turn up every so often to look and learn and sometimes to contribute.
If possible, please let us know you’re coming on the Islington Tree Wardens website (IslingtonTreeWardens.org.uk) and please 'join' this event here on this Facebook page.
