Awaken Cafe and Oaktown Indie Mayhem present...
Bay Area songstress and touring troubadour Mindy Dillard releases 'How to Survive a Poison Apple' the soundtrack for her one-woman show by the same name that she tours nationally and internationally to fringe festivals, colleges, listening rooms and conferences. This revisionist fairy tale folk rock song cycle explores Mindy's journey of finding her own voice and her own healthy body image.
"How to Survive a Poison Apple resonates with truth and heart and rockstar power!" - Art Yoga Cat, Santa Cruz Fringe Festival
"I laughed out loud and managed to keep my tears to myself. As a guy, I wasn’t sure I’d relate to the topic, but the show hits on universal themes for everyone. I got insights not only to our culture’s pressures on women, but my own, internal, pressure to be perfect." - Rick Huddle, Actor/Storyteller, Border Crossings, Portland, OR
"[A] riveting and redeeming synthesis of music, message, story, and heart."
-Lisa Lepine, ProMotion Queen, creative consultant, Portland, OR
This album release show will feature Mindy on electric guitar, Eric McEuen on lead electric guitar, Ben Bernstein of Petting Zoo studio on bass (who also produced and sound designed the album) and Mike Stevens on drums.
Come enjoy the voices of three powerful female songwriters to celebrate Mindy Dillard Music's release of 'How to Survive a Poison Apple,' her second full length album after her feature 'Awakening Under Fluorescent Lights' which she released in Portland, OR in 2010.
