The City of Titusville has come up with a budget of $30,000 to build a bike-only park at Marina Park. This park will be the first of its kind, not only in Florida but in the south! Right now the closest bike-only park is located in Pennsylvania there is also one in Chandler, Arizona. The city has given us free reign on what we want to see in our Bmx park.
Although $30,000 (compared to the current $300,000 skatepark in Titusville) isn't much, it is a start! So I James Harvey would like to get as many people involved as possible so that anyone that wants to have a say on what is built in our park will!
This event will be held at River Lanes Family Entertainment Center in their banquet room. We will discuss possible builders/designers, overall design of the park, budget, how to raise more money etc...
Sparkys Distribution has been kind enough to get involved with this event and allowed us to borrow a few of their Subrosa Street Rails to have a session at the abandoned K-Mart next door prior to and possibly after as well! I will be there around 4pm Friday with the rails set up.
So if you want to come out just to ride the rails or just to have a say in what happens at Florida's first bike only park, please come, bring a friend, bring a parent, the more people we can get involved in this the better! Jeff Davis from Brevard County Parks and rec. will be there and I want to be sure we show him how important this is for bmx not only locally but for the entire bmx community.
