Smugglers Records are delighted to announce the gig of the year, if not the decade, when we present Mailian tribal supergroup, Grammy Award Winning TINARIWEN on June 6th.
Since their 2007 breakthrough album Aman Iman: Water is Life, TINARIWEN have gained a global recognition and fanbase and their 2011 record, Tassilli won the Grammy Award that year.
Smugglers Records have, for some months, been negotiating to bring this globally massive band to the coast and we have secured an exclusive, one-off Kent date, Saturday June 6th, just outside Deal at the Smugglers Festival site.
TINARIWEN will headline a one-day festival of the finest music, set in woodland surroundings sympathetic to the nomadic desert blues of the band.
Music will start from midday on Saturday 6th and food with a North African and subcontinental flavour will be offered along with the best of Kentish ales, wines and ciders from the Smugglers Inn.
The day will culminate in TINARIWEN’S epic, one-off performance as the sun goes down over the south coast.
As a musical event in Kent, TINARIWEN in the woods ranks with Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones’ legendary gigs in the Chiselhurt Caves in the 1960s. It is the stuff of legend, not to be missed!
For the nomads, overnight camping is offered and food, drink and music will continue through till Sunday afternoon, making it a musical weekend to remember.
Early bird tickets available until 27 Feb. Family tickets available, children under 12 free.
