The Ruckus Band will be at Smoking Pig BBQ Company Fremont on Friday May 22 at 8:30. Free live music event, everyone invited.
The Ruckus Band performs classic American roots, rock and blues covers and dynamic originals infused with Grooving Funk, Swing, R&B, a dash of Country Rock.
Kevin Coggins - Drums/Percussion
Hailing originally from Arcata, California, Kevin Coggins powers the groove behind Ruckus with the solid, driving pulse of a veteran roots, rock and blues drummer. His extensive 40 years of experience includes performing and recording with many internationally known artists such as James Cotton, Leon Hughes' Original Coasters, Albert King, Boz Skaggs and many others in a diversity of styles including Rhythm and Blues, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Soul, Gospel and Country music.
Victor Cozart - Vocals/Harmonica
Victor Cozart fronts The Ruckus Band on vocals and harmonica. His vocal style hails from blues, early soul and rock influences, while his harmonica roots favor blues artists such as William Clarke, Little Walter, the Sonny Boy’s and Junior Wells.
Tom Hammer - Bass Guitar and Stand Up Bass
Tom Hammer, a Chicago native, cut his teeth musically early in the 1970’s while playing in the clubs of Chicago’s West Side. After moving to California in 1981, Tom began making his mark in the Bay Area playing every dive and juke joint that would hire a band. In the early 1990’s he helped form the Fat Katz, which won JJ’s Blues “Best Band” contest in 1993. That same year Tom was nominated “Best Bass Player” at the Bay Area Blues Awards. A skilled performer on both electric and upright bass, Tom’s diversified ability has enabled him to perform different styles from blues (The Fat Katz and The Troublemakers) to and the more up-tempo “psychobilly” sounds of The Motor Punx. Tom Hammer has that big rocking bass sound that fills up The Ruckus Band’s low end. He is a humble bassist and under-appreciated due to his low profile on the music scene. Tom’s solid technique joins nicely with his melodic and rhythmic creativity without getting in the way of the music.
Danny Rappley – Lead Guitar & Vocals
Danny Rappley's early exposure to music was an intermixed pool of big band, Latin, jazz, and rhythm and blues. He began playing saxophone at age 6 and later visited Japan with his Junior High School band. Continuing with music, he got serious about playing the guitar in his early twenties, which led him into opportunities to meet and play with some of the best musicians residing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
