Yoga as taught in the Iyengar tradition allows a student to progress safely. The systematic approach begins by working with the outermost layers of the body and progressing towards deepening awareness within. Inherent in the method is an understanding of the progression of learning from the surface towards the core. The art of sequencing, timing and instruction in the Iyengar method is meant to progressively build a language of actions in the body and mind. In this workshop with Marla we will be practising a different category of poses in each class to follow this progression of learning and action. Through this way of working we will gain a deeper understanding of the poses. Marla is able to and enjoys teaching mixed levels. The format of this workshop will be appropriate for beginners as well as advanced students and teachers. Marla will seek to establish clarity in the basic actions, which are inherent in the more challenging practices. With our present individual capacities we can each deepen our understanding of the poses and lay the foundation for further self-study. For full details, please visit:
