2015 sees the fourteenth Music of Thousands Mahler festival in Jihlava. Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) was born in the Czech Republic and spent his childhood in Jihlava, surrounded by works of his contemporaries and other composers.
The Music of Thousands – Mahler festival 2015 combines orchestral concerts, vocal music genres, chamber concerts and concerts dedicated to youth. There are also literary events, exhibitions and lectures as well as nightly performances of young artists in the jazz club. A brass band parade followed by planting of roses in the rose garden by prominent personalities. The festival is regularly attended by visitors from around the world. The main theme in 2015 will be Czech-German relations in culture and classical music. The festival also acts as a remembrance of the end of the Second World War and celebrates the anniversary of two great personalities: Jan Hus and Rainer Maria Rilke.
