HQ David LLoyd, Barker Rd, Maidstone, Kent ME16 8LW
How many races have you been to that begin with a train ride ? Probably none ! Thats why this unique trail run had such excellent feedback last year, as 130 runners boarded a train at Maidstone West station and took the 8 minute journey up to Wateringbury where everyone disembarked and made their way to the Marina where the start is . At the sound of the horn they set off down the path which never leaves the side of the River and goes under some bridges , over others , crossing walkways and through “kissing ” gates .Anyone over 6′ 2 is strongly advised to DUCK at the Barming road bridge where the tunnel underneath is particularly low ! The run finishes outside the David Lloyd club in Maidstone Town Centre where last year spectators lined the footbridge to give support to the finishers. The distance covered is approx 8.6k .
This race is in memory of Sandra Briffa who lost her brave battle with Cancer on 21st September 2010 and is in aid of Cancer Research UK.
