Gypsy jazz, originals, blues, western swing, popular hits on guitar and harmonica with vocals. Paul Little and Pete Hastings are a fantastic gypsy jazz/western swing duo from Blacksburg, Virginia. They began playing gypsy jazz, western swing, classic country, blues, rock, and originals as a guitar/harmonica duo last March at various New River Valley venues. Their repertoire is diverse, they play what they find interesting, and they love to surprise audiences with their unpredictable mix.
PAUL LITTLE: Paul has been playing guitar and singing for over five decades. During recent years, he and his son, Ryan Little, performed as a duo playing gypsy jazz, western swing, chickin' pickin', and classic country music. In addition to performing at venues in VA, TN, NC, WV, and NM, Paul and Ryan Little wrote and created theatre scores for several Virginia Tech Theatre Arts Department performances. They also accompanied professional storyteller, Kim Weitcamp, on two CDs and in various other performances.
Paul Little is also a gifted singer/songwriter in his own right. His favorite originals are "Piney Woods,” "Good-bye's So Hard,” "Spent a Little Time in Jail,” and "Big Sur.” Paul is looking forward to performing them at The Listening Room.
PETE HASTINGS: Pete is best known for having been in the band No Strings Attached, an internationally recognized hammered dulcimer band. This band played at festivals in the United States and overseas, and the band also has a number of recordings to their credit. Pete plays harmonica in a variety of styles and also teaches the instrument. He is a "lifetime" member of the Blacksburg bluegrass band "Crossties" and also performs with "Sydney and the Wheatstraws."
