Join us in this wonderful event and have great fun while helping to help raise money for a worthy cause and one that was close to Kevin's heart.
Kevin was impressed with The First Tee, it's mission to help youth and the people who were involved. He became a member of the Board and worked hard to help this organization, especially in promoting their annual fundraiser, a golf tournament. Our family was very touched when, the year following Kevin's death, The First Tee asked permission to name the golf tournament in memory of our dear Kevin. I was pleased to grant that permission. I think Kevin would be humbled by this request but honored.
The First Tee of Shawnee County was established in 2007. Our chapter, an introductory golf program for your ages 7 - 18, has impacted the lives of over 2,000 young people through school assemblies, camps and clinics of which over 40% are living within poverty guidelines. A recent study by academics and parent interviews on the positive youth development of the program, has shown that The First Tee participants have exhibited a 52% improvement in school grades, a 66% improvement in social skills, a 74% improvement in communication skills, 76% improvement in confidence and 74% improvement in responsibility. Based on nine core values of honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment, life skills are seamlessly integrated into golf lessons where children learn the skills that lead to success on and off the golf course.
