Be Healthy - Raise Money For Cancer! Healthy Lex is a two day event in Lexington that celebrates cancer survivors, promotes a healthy lifestyle, and raises vital funds for the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. Friday, June 12 – A Night of Survival. Survive the Night Triathlon Relay, 7pm Teams will embark on a full distance triathlon relay, very similar to that of Dr. Feddock’s Ironcology fundraising event. The race will begin as a 4000m swim in the Spindletop Hall lap pool. Runner’s will then head to the Kentucky Horse Park, where teams will complete 21 laps around a closed 5.2 mile cycling course, for a total of 109 miles. There will be friends, family, food, loud music, and an overall great time as we race under the stars. Teams will then send runners along the 27.1 mile segmented route through thoroughbred country before finishing amongst the center of arena of the exercise and expo events at Spindletop Hall. A Walk Under the Stars, 8pm Surviving treatment for a cancer is no walk in the park, but fortunately that is certainly what this event is – a unified walk through the horse park. Ironcology wishes to honor those survivors and fighters with a walk through the horse park as the Survive the Night Triathlon begins. Join us as we celebrate those who have endured the fight as well as those who are about to, or already are about to, embark in their own battle. Glow-in-the-dark necklaces coordinating with the color of your cancer of choice will be provided free of charge. Walk united with us and show everyone in Lexington that we are strong and ready to face cancer no matter what! Saturday, June 13 – A Day For Living Something for Ever Body Exercise Event Ironcology was initially started in order to promote Dr. Feddock competing in the Ironman Triathlon in Louisville, but Ironcology is really about promoting a healthy lifestyle and honoring cancer survivors. This event promotes exercise, but often, there are so many options that its hard to figure out what truly fits for you. The Something for Every Body Exercise Event brings all different types of current exercise that are popular into one place enabling everyone to “Choose their own,” and more importantly have fun. Classes will begin at 9:00 am and run until 2:00 pm beginning every 30 minutes. Entry to each class will be a $5 donation to Ironcology. If you want to participate in more than 1 class or exercise type… by all means, please do so. That is what this event is all about. Healthy Living To Prevent Cancer Expo This is what the entire event is all about. Beating cancer begins with changing our lifestyle and being healthy. Visit our special expo where healthy eating, living, weight loss, cancer prevention, and cancer treatments will be the focus. Learn and participate so that you know all of you options.
