Welcome to the Harlem Sessions,
I welcome all my musician, poet, artist, philosopher, and dancer friends to our new late night Harlem hang.
This is not your ordinary jam session. Each week, we aim to build and explore a new common repertoire with original arrangements.
We will cover a wide span of music, from the performers and composers who developed this music, to our modern day peers. This will be a celebration of some of the greatest Black and American composers of our time and of our heritage. We have NO COVER CHARGE, so invite your friends and family.
In the spirit of all the creativity that came before us here in Harlem, we want to create NEW STANDARDS AS A COMMUNITY.

THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT...
The Harlem sessions will be a new home, where we can develop new music and pay homage.
The session will begin with a 45 minute performance followed by the jam. To expand the boundaries, each week we will serve up a menu for the jam session. Some weeks, we may drill down and focus on one artist or composer, or topic of inspiration. We will post each menu one week in advance. We are open for different arrangements and twists as well. Every week, we will also celebrate one of our peers. This week, we celebrate Roy Hargrove.
We will consider all requests, but only before we prepare the next week’s menu.
If you want to participate in the jam session you must be signed up before the end of the first performance set. You can sign up as an individual or as a group.
If you participate, please feel free to bring your CD or merch to sell. Over the course of the residency, we aim to represent as many current artist’s repertoire at each weeks event.
THE IN HOUSE BACKLINE....
This week’s backline in house is : Fender Rhodes, Guitar Amp, Bass Amp, and drum kit.
Each week with the menu we will post up youtube links to the compositions. Feel free to send other arrangements, new interpretations and let's get ready for a great session.
