The Blues Magoos (w/ the Original Members)
Best known for their smash hit "We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet," The Blues Magoos were at the forefront of the psychedelic era with their electric suits and giant onstage lava lamps, becoming an integral part of the emergent 60's Greenwich Village scene. They recently released their first new album in 41 years titled 'Psychedelic Resurrection.' Formed in the Bronx, The Blues Magoos still feature founding members Ralph Scala (organ and vocals) and Emil "Peppy" Thielhelm (vocals and guitar) who appeared in the rock musical 'Hair' plus many other artists including Cher and Kiss recorded his songs.
Happy Ending plays electric rock ‘n’ roll, mixing original compositions influenced by garage rock, folk rock and psychedelia—oftentimes with a political slant. The band's music is especially influenced by the sounds of 1966-68, when psychedelic sound exploration meshed with the pounding rhythm of electric garage rock and pop.
Happy Ending has released three albums. The most recent, “Electricity for the Youth of Today,” was recorded live at Best Video Performance Space in December of 2013. The vinyl LP and 45 “Have A Nice Day” came out in 1984 and the compact disc “Smile for the Camera” in 1996. John Foster, editor of Op Magazine, described “Have A Nice Day” as a “future cult item for the collectors.” Hank Hoffman sings and plays guitar; Richard Brown plays guitar and alto saxophone. Tom Smith is on drums and Randy Stone plays bass.
Rope is a New Haven based Rock trio. With their knotty sound and eclectic perspective, Rope performs powerful originals steeped in trippy garage roots vibes as well as tightly woven tributes.Their collective experience includes having been Hilton Valentine's (The Animals) back-up band Skiffledog. Rope's members have performed in a number of notable Connecticut acts. The band is also known for their 'Stripped Down Acoustic' performances.
