Join us for free live music on the terrace every weekend, Memorial Day through September! Maryhill welcomes Elise LeBlanc from 1pm-5pm.
Portland-based singer-songwriter Elise LeBlanc writes songs that explore a roller-coaster of emotions, strength in vulnerability and stubborn optimism. Her sound blends indie-folk with 1950s pop and jazz, and her vocal style is reminiscent of Ingrid Michaelson and Norah Jones. Combining soulful beats with woodsy, folk instrumentation, Elise creates a mood that is upbeat and earthy. Her soon-to-release debut album, Runaway Kites weaves a musical tapestry with lapsteel guitar, banjo uke, upright bass, vintage organ and layers of angsty old-school rhythms.
Elise & her band just finished recording Runaway Kites in March 2014. The album released in June.
"...her voice captivated the room from the first song. Her pipes pair well with her ukulele, bright drums, and exuberant bass but nothing sounded more appropriate than when Elise sat down on the house piano and belted out her songs. She writes in a tune that resonates with the English soul scene comparable to Lisa Hannigan and Adele. Look out for her new album on June 13th."
