Theodore Larson just celebrated his 38th birthday on January 3rd. Ted and Jamie Turner moved to Jacksonville, FL in October of 2014 to start a new life together, complete with visions and dreams as any young couple might have. They were high school sweethearts and best friends for the past 21 years.
On February 4th, Ted could no longer handle the abdominal pain he'd been experiencing and checked himself into the ER. After some testing, he was admitted to the Weaver Tower Oncology department at Baptist Hospital here in Jacksonville. He was diagnosed with an incurable, aggressive cancer of the mucus membranes, given the name "poorly-differentiated adenocarcinoma of unknown primary origin." The cancer is in his liver, pelvis, spine, femurs, and other organs. He has completed ten radiation treatments and one round of chemotherapy, but hasn't shown any positive progress.
Ted and Jamie have amassed an obscene and unexpected amount of medical bills and other expenses related to his ongoing care. Ted hasn't been able to work since January and Jamie currently waits tables on a part-time basis. Jamie is his primary caregiver at home under nursing care through hospice.
James E. Turner, Jamie's father, thought it'd be a good idea to organize a benefit golf outing and use his resources, time, and talents to help Ted and Jamie. James says it always feels good being able to help others through the many golf benefits he's attended over the years. Never once did he think he'd be running a benefit of his own for someone he loves dearly.
We're reaching out to our family and friends, asking you to join us in helping Ted through this benefit golf outing. Those who don't golf are welcome to attend the dinner, raffle, and auction after the golf event.
