2014 TASTE OF ANN ARBOR LINEUP
Airborne or Aquatic? (Michigan Super Group)
Airborne or Aquatic? Is a true collaboration of Michigan musicians led by Seth Bernard. A psychedelic roots-rock band, spawned in the Manistee National Forest of Northern Michigan, with the sound of the Pine River flowing in the background. From the deepest depths of heavy oceanic riff rock, to the highest heights of soaring atmospheric ambience.
Misty Lyn & The Big Beautiful (Ypsilanti)
As a contingent of the Michigan indie/folk scene, Misty Lyn pens haunting melodies over simple arrangements that traverse the gothic, literary fringes of American roots music.
Matt Jones & The Reconstruction (Ypsilanti)
"The melodies are sweet and confident, with a balanced mix of cello and acoustic guitar, the harmonies are soft coos from birds in the trees, and deft little touches (like the distant blooping synths on “The Deep Enders”) are delicately placed, little adornments around the frames of the song instead of consuming the whole thing as stylistic centerpieces" Mostly Midwest
Abigail Stauffer (Ann Arbor)
Abigail Stauffer brings all of her experience to the stage. Chances are Abigail won't break your heart, but she will add color to a black and white memory. Every song is a captivating showcase of confidence and vulnerability, naturally crafting a balance of pain, hope, and joy. Her music and live performances hold so much emotion for her and the audience-- it's hard to believe each song isn't written specifically about you.
Briar Rabbit (Detroit)
Briar Rabbit is a masterful songwriter who happens to be the nephew of BB King. Whether singing about heartbreak, following dreams, or historical fiction; his perspective coupled with his command of language is incredible. It's no surprise in 2013, he won an International Songwriting Award.
Olivia Millerschin (Detroit)
Olivia was nominated for three 2014 Detroit Music Awards, a quarter finalist NBC’s America’s Got Talent and winner of the 2014 John Lennon songwriting contest.
Olivia’s clever and witty, melodic and musically quirkiness is irresisti
Nicole P’Simer (Ann Arbor)
With her powerhouse vocals and silliness there is no wonder why Nicole has a faithful following in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.
Lisa Richie (Ann Arbor)
It is my aim to capture the timeless truths and to compose and perform them. To place them in melodies that are made for the repeat button. To write songs that you want to hold close, with substance, with honesty and with dignity. To hold a depth of emotion and not lose sight of logic.
