Save the date for our 21st annual walk for the animals! Join us from 11am to 2pm on the lawn of the Strafford County Courthouse in Dover, NH, just a short distance from the shelter. This event will once again be hosted by our friends Mark Ericson and Karen Kiley from WOKQ.
This year's event will feature demos, vendors, food, raffles, adoptable animals, and, of course, the walk for the animals. Once again, the walk will be led be some of our shelter dogs in need of homes. Taking place along the trails near the shelter, the 1-mile loop passes through the woods and along the Cocheco River. A shorter 1/2 mile loop along the road is also available for walkers looking for easier terrain.
The Tails to Trails dog walk is one of our largest fundraisers of the year. Last year, our sponsors and walkers helped us raise more than $18,000 for the animals!
We need your help to make this year a success. Pre-register online now at www.cvhsonline.org/dogwalk.cfm to start raising money and you could be named our top pledge collector! Collect pledges individually or form a team with your friends, classmates, co-workers, or sports team. We will be awarding prizes for the top adult individual, youth (under 16) individual, adult team, and youth team. Not able to make it to the walk? That's okay! Fundraisers do not need to be present at the walk to qualify for prizes.
Prizes will be awarded to pledge collectors at the following levels:
$25 - CVHS bracelet
$50 - CVHS logo water bottle
$100 - CVHS logo t-shirt
$250 - CVHS logo hoodie
$500 - CVHS logo fleece vest
$1,000 - CVHS logo fleece jacket
Prizes above the $50 level will be awarded after the walk.
Don't forget to bring your four-legged best friend to the event! We'll have lots of fun activities for your pet, including an obstacle course. This year, we'll also be bringing back the Canine Capers! Canine Capers features three contests: best kisser, best costume, and musical sit. Enter your dog in one contest or try all three! There is no cost to participate, but a donation to the shelter is always appreciated. Register for the Canine Capers the day of the dog walk near the walker registration tent.
All dogs must be leashed at all times. Although this is a dog-only event, supporters without dogs are still encouraged to attend, collect pledges, and join the walk. Walk in memory of a past pet, in honor of a current pet, or even in honor of the many animals at the shelter looking for their forever homes.
We hope to see you at Tails to Trails on Sunday, May 31st!
