My name is Keira and I am 10 years old.
Three years ago I was told I have Crohn's disease. This has had a big impact on my life and I have spent many weeks in hospital. I have good days and bad days but I always try to keep a smile on my face.
It's world inflammatory bowel disease day on 19th may 2015. Hopefully this will raise awareness of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. I have recently found out that around 300,000 people in the UK are affected by IBD and millions more around the world.
To show my support for this day, and hopefully raise some money for Crohn's and Colitis UK, I am arranging a "wear something purple day" at my school. Purple is the official colour of the campaign. Many famous landmarks are lighting up purple on the day including the millennium bridge in Gateshead.
I want to get as many people as I can involved in World IBD Day so I have written to local schools and businesses and asked them to support me and other suffers of IBS by wearing purple on 19th May.
Let's get powerful in purple
Together we can make a difference
