This summer Fraser and I have decided to run the Liverpool Marathon. It has been a last minute as there are only just over 3 months left before it! Fraser brought it up in the pub about two weeks ago and me being mildly intoxicated and overly competitive agreed. Unfourtunately I then found out he runs 10 km in 40 minutes.... Where as I trundle along at a more leisurely 55 minutes. This being said I have 3 months, an abundence of spare time, a treadmill and in the middle of the north sea there are few distractions.
We also wanted to put our effort into raising money for a worth while charity and as such we have chosed SANE mental health charity. Every year between 8 and 12% of adults in the UK will suffer with depression. In our life time 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental disorder. This means if you are lucky enough to have a Mum, a Dad, brothers or sisters, there is a good chance that at somepoint someone in your close family will suffer. SANE is a leading UK mental health charity who's mission is to improve quality of life for anyone affected by mental illness. SANE is also involved in The Black Dog Campaign which aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and encourages people to seek help early, rather than suffering in silence. Even if you don't or can't donate Please take 4 minutes out of your day to watch this video
So if you think that after running 26.2 miles we deserve a meal, a beer, or even just a chocolate bar please donate instead! Every penny makes every mile more manageable and helps provide support for people in need!
Also if anyway wants to come and watch/support/carry me the race takes place on the 13th June! We would love to see some friendly faces!
