Stacy Antonel is a vocalist unique in both her presentation and eclectic repertoire. Her range and versatile vocal style allow her to sing rock, jazz, soul, pop and country with equal proficiency and passion.
Born and raised in Ocean Beach, California, Stacy is a classically trained pianist from the age of 7, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from UC Berkeley. In 2010 she moved to Argentina to travel and teach English; in Buenos Aires she answered an ad looking for an American who could sing like June Carter Cash, and her professional singing career was born.
In 2013 she beat out over 130 singers to win Fox San Diego’s local singing competition “3 Minutes to Stardom”. In addition to fronting Velvet Café, she’s recently begun to get her feet wet in the jazz world, and her vintage country band will soon be hitting some local stages. She’s also working on releasing an indie EP as solo project Bricoleurre, an homage to both anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss and the post-post-modern approach to music characterized by the millennial generation.
