Our 2015 goal is to raise $20,000 to complete South Windsor's Veteran Memorial Wall.
In 2002 the South Windsor Patriotic Commission completed a Veterans Memorial in front of the new swimming pools. The materials and work were all donated by Town citizens, companies and South Windsor Rotary. There are monuments to WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War and a Town Monument. The names of those killed in action are engraved on each of the monuments. The front of the Memorial is composed of bricks in the shape of an eagle. Veterans can have a brick or bricks engraved with their name and service. Veterans can have a brick or bricks engraved with their name and service (cost $35). Non service members can also purchase bricks. Recently, Peter Anthony a Korean War Veteran and purple heart recipient proposed that we build a wall to enhance the Monuments and separate the memorial from the Pools and that the Commission do the project with donated funds. With Art Sladyk and Pete as co-chairs they have moved to design phase with a completed plan in place. They have raised $30,000 toward a $90,000 goal. With the help of this tournament they can reach their goal and get the project completed this year.
