We hope you are all staying sane amidst all the exams and revision that plague us in this stressful period! If you need a break from exams at the end of May (or if you are done by then, in which case you can finally let your hair down - lucky you!), then look no further! SOAS Hiking Society will be organising one last hike to the seaside to end the year in style. Please see all relevant details below:
Date: Saturday 30th May 2015
Description: Seaford to Eastbourne. This is a section of the South Downs Way and a classic cliff-top walk.
Length: 22.3 km (13.8 miles)
Duration: 7 hours pure walking time
This walk is particularly tough because it involves a fair bit of climbing and descending (almost none of it is actually flat), however it is also extremely rewarding as you are walking all the way with breathtaking views over the sea and endless cliffs, including the Seven Sisters. Make sure you are fit and up for the challenge! Because the walk is just a tad longer and more demanding than our previous hikes, we plan on keeping a regular but efficient pace. Sorry if you are an amateur of our slower paced hikes!
We will be leaving as a group from one of London’s main train stations to Seaford, then returning in the evening from Eastbourne around 9pm. Please DO NOT buy your tickets in advance as we will be getting discounted GroupSave tickets together in the morning. Tickets will cost around £20.00 per person.
Please bring some food as we will have a picnic for lunch overlooking the cliffs. Make sure you bring plenty of water to stay hydrated! After the hike we will probably head to a pub for dinner somewhere in Eastbourne.
We don’t know yet about weather forecasts, but just to be safe bring a jacket in case it gets windy or rainy. It might even be warm enough to dip your toes into the sea… Generally speaking though, proper hiking shoes are a must!
To join the hike, please send an email to Ola at email@example.com including your name, telephone number and whether or not you have a railcard. Precedence will be given to SOAS students. Places usually run out fast, so make sure you sign up ASAP!
Lots of Love,
Clotilde, SOAS Hiking Society
