Please come and help support Nicholas in his wait for a kidney transplant. This is his story:
Born with a formula and a solid milk allergy, at 3 months old Nicholas was severely
underweight, which triggered testing. After years of seeing a pediatric nephrologist and
only being told there were high levels of protein in his urine, at the age of seven the diagnosis
of Vesicoureteral Reflux was given. While testing, they also found that his entire renal system
was malformed, one kidney was not functioning and the other was only functioning at 40%, so
surgery was performed.
He was then sent to a new pediatric nephrologist at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital who added
him to a kidney study where they could constantly monitor his kidney functions. They were always
told a kidney transplant would be necessary, but the question remained...when?
His kidney functions started declining in 2012 and by January of 2014, there was a major decline.
He started passing out, could no longer work, sleeping abnormal amounts of time...no longer the
hard-working young man the family once knew. In April of 2014 he started Peritoneal Dialysis and was added
to the kidney transplant list with the Cleveland Clinic. Along with the dialysis has come many complications
including long hospital stays and major infections that have reached dangerous levels. Now, at the
age of 22, the family prays daily for the right person to donate a kidney to prevent further damage.
We will have vendors there to shop from, a table filled with silent auction items, 50/50 raffles throughout the day and of course a purse bingo which starts at noon. Please come join us to have some fun and raise some money for this gracious young man!
