I have always wanted my art to tell a story. I have been exploring the societal, psychological and cultural pressures on women through portraiture and allegory. I often use cows as a metaphor. My figures are painted in abstract and often incongruous settings which are symbols in themselves.
My paintings are expressive as I reveal tension and relationships. They often stray into the world of surrealism. Imagery comes from direct observation, photographs and the imagination. I paint a collage of ideas, sowing humor and irony. I suspend belief, pose questions and portray contradiction. I play with paint.
