Introducing a brand new piece from Skin Horse Theater's Nat and Veronica:
There are very few creatures capable of asexual reproduction.
In rare cases where reproduction is possible without a sexual partner, mothers give birth to exact genetic copies of themselves.
This is a form of immortality.
She Was Born uses movement, sound and a sci-fi sensibility to explore the idea that, biologically speaking, the sole purpose of existence is reproduction.
"She" is the last of her species, living out her life on a barren wasteland of a planet. When she suddenly finds herself with child, she must protect her larva against a mysterious invader or face extinction. Using intentionally cheap and commonplace materials She Was Born creates a spare, beautiful sci-fi landscape for its insect-like protagonist. This is not your typical one woman show -like a nature documentary on LSD, it's a weird and wild survival story from another world.
