The San Fernando Valley Historical Society will host a free Memorial Day Observance from 11:00 a.m. to Noon on Monday, May 25, 2015 at the historic San Fernando Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in Sylmar.
This year’s program commemorates the final year of our nation’s sesquicentennial observance of the epic war between North and South. It will include songs and vignettes from “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory-Reflections on the Civil War” with President Abraham Lincoln, soldiers, civilians and other spirits of the era performed by Living Literature Theatricals featuring David Aaron, JC Henning, Amanda McManus, David Pinion, and Marbry Steward of the Eclectic Company Theatre.
There will be historical displays about some of the cemetery's buried, including five Civil War veterans and prominent local citizens. For more information or to assist with the event, contact 818-970-1286.
Join us for an inspiring, heartfelt tribute honoring those people, past and present, who valiantly served in our country's Armed Forces.
Pioneer Cemetery is located at 14451 Bledsoe Street at the corner of Foothill Boulevard in Sylmar. The event starts at 11:00am.
Hope to see you there.
