The Day of Dance raises funds for Oxfam, Campaign against the Arms Trade and Yorkshire CND. All tutors give their time free and everyone enjoys the special welcoming atmosphere.
A huge range of dance workshops include something for everyone from established favourites such as salsa, tango, ballroom, rock 'n' roll/swing-jive and charleston to circle dance, morris dance, appalachian, biodanza, nia and 5 rhythms - and much more in between.
New workshops this time include Contemporary Dance with the acclaimed Old School Danceworks of Halifax, Chacarera Argentinian Folk Dance, Stopdance meditative movement, Japanese-style Taiko Drumming, Shiatsu massage and Nicaraguan Folk Dance with the amazing Son de America from Sheffield. Popular returning tutors include Yannicke with French/Breton Dance, Stergios Serbezis with tradional Greek Dance, Helen Kemp with Poi, and Shanta Rao with Tradional Indian Dance as well as Honeydrum bringing the excitement of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms. You can also sample singing (3 sessions through the day), storytelling, drum circle, yoga, EFT and somatics. All workshops are suitable for beginners and you don't need to come with a partner.
We have an exciting Evening Event from 8pm with 3 live bands in 3 rooms of dance all on one ticket. This includes a ceilidh in the main hall with Fools Jig ceilidh band and caller Bob Carter: Afro-Cuban/Brazilian Carnival drum, dance and song with Honeydrum and the return of the hugely popular 309s with a high energy Swing/Jive Party. Local Real Ale Bar from 7.30pm by Don't Tell Titus.
Online booking available on Skiddle until Friday evening (9pm) 15th May. You can also book on the day at the Victoria Hall or buy tickets on the door for the Evening Event.
Please note there is no Family Ceilidh this time.

PLEASE NOTE when booking online, if you book a ticket deal or child or concessionary ticket you won't be able to specify directly which workshops you want to do, but I will email you to ask and get you written in for your choice of workshops (or you can email me, Denise, to tell me first!)
