This is a celebration of the life of this great English poet who died off Skyros one hundred years ago and rests in an olive grove of the island.
A special epic week of literature, pilgrimage and creativity on the island of Skyros, May 24th to May 31st 2015, to mark the 100th anniversary of the death of the poet Rupert Brooke. Susie Self,Singer/Songwriter, and Kevan Manwaring, Poet/Writer, and Mike Read, BBC Radio Presenter and Rupert Brooke Society founder, are leading a week long adventure on Skyros focussed on exploring the complex mysteries of the life of Rupert Brooke and visiting his final resting place.The week includes courses in: creative writing, song writing, guided walks, relaxing sound baths, watercolour painting and magical adventures on the beautiful island.
Participants will stay in the stunning village of Skyros by the sea. There will be early morning sessions of meditative “ Sound Immersions”. Mid morning sessions will alternate between creative writing and songwriting. In the afternoons, there will be Siesta and time to go to the beach. Late afternoon/early evening will be led walks incorporating writing, poetry and watercolour painting. The week also includes a days adventure to the grave of Rupert Brooke and a festive music and poetry evening.
