Dear Brisbane, Welcome to Roving Conspiracy. Once a month, on a Monday night (the next being June 1), we're putting on a relaxed, community-centric event featuring live music, a pop-up art gallery, cheap chai, and reasonably comfortable seating. Following in the tradition of Courtyard Conspiracy and Downstairs Conspiracy, our hope is for this event to be a hub for creative-minded people to meet and collaborate, as well as a place where fledgling artists and performers can get exposure in front of an open and appreciative audience. We're also keen for it to serve as a space for people to inform themselves about political activism and keep updated about ongoing protest actions. To keep things interesting (and reduce noise complaints), we're going to change venues as often as we can, moving from one backyard to another. Please check this page each month for the address. If you live around South Brisbane and would like to host a Conspiracy, please get in touch: (—‘Conspiracy Host’ in subject line). The night kicks off at 6pm (but you can arrive/leave whenever you please). The pop-up art gallery will feature local visual artists. We'll also present a variety of performances throughout the evening, from solo singer-songwriters, to comedians and poets, to high-energy funk bands. Any performers (musicians, poets, acrobats, visual artists, whatever) who are interested in being a part of the 'official' line-up, email with 'Conspiracy Performance’ or ‘Conspiracy Artist’ in the subject line. We try to give everyone an opportunity to perform, but there are lots of keen musos around so please be patient and we'll get back to you ASAP. Having said all that, this event is also about breaking down traditional barriers between performers and audience members. We usually have an acoustic jam at the end of the night, so bring your instruments. No matter what your level of ability is, you're welcome to participate. (And of course you're also welcome to arrive early/stay late to help us set up/clean up the space.) Entry is free. Chai is $2 but you have to wash your own mug (bring your own from home if you like). This is a safe, all-ages event—so families and under-18s are welcome. Remember that everyone involved in this event is a volunteer, so please be respectful and clean up after yourself.
