Islamic scholar and intellectual Javed Ahmad Ghamidi and Shehzad Saleem, Ph.D. (University of Wales) will participate in a discussion on a variety of topics including negotiating the demands of religion and society, how to address common challenges faced and what lessons can be derived from the Prophet's life. Javed Ahmad Ghamidi has been engaged in the study of Islam for over 50 years and has published numerous books including works of Qur'anic exegesis, Islamic jurisprudence and poetry. He regularly appears on television to discuss matters of religion. He previously served as a member of the Islamic Ideological Council in Pakistan and currently heads up Al-Mawrid Institute. Shehzad Saleem, Ph.D. is a Research Fellow at Al-Mawrid Institute and has been under the tutelage of Ghamidi for over 25 years. He serves as the Editor of Renaissance Islamic Journal and is currently completing a multi-volume work on the history of the Qur'an. The public talk will be delivered in both Urdu and English.
