Rock the Bridge is a celebration of our love for the Rockbridge area!
From 12 - 7 pm, the Nelson Street bridge in downtown Lexington will be closed to traffic and transformed into a high-energy block party, featuring vendor booths, live entertainment, interactive games for adults and children, a variety of food trucks and craft beers, and an evening performance by Richmond-based band, DJ Williams Projekt.
This family friendly event will feature plenty of children’s entertainment, including music by Blake Shester and Chris McGrath, bridge-building crafts, storytellers, “fishing” for prizes off the bridge, cupcake decorating, face painting, and a Wonders of Science show by Dick Carpenter and Rae Minnix.
Not to be left out of the fun, adults will have the opportunity to enjoy their own games area, including cornhole, can jam, ladder golf, hula hooping and more.
In addition, vendors and artisans will be on hand to display their wares and talents, ranging from artisanal soaps to caricature portraits.
Beginning at 5 pm, the main stage will light up with a performance by DJ Williams Projekt, a Richmond-based band led by D.J. Williams, Jr. whose funk-infused sounds have a wide following in Virginia and beyond. Williams has shared the stage with such luminaries as Dave Matthews, John Oates, Levon Helm, John Legend, and others.
Tickets for the day are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Children 12 and under are admitted at no cost.
