He's known for the use of narrative in his raps and has been called "hip hop's greatest storyteller." Originally part of Doug E. Fresh's Get Fresh Crew, MC Ricky D has been frequently sampled and interpolated by other artists such as TLC, Black Star, The Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, and Color Me Badd, with many of these songs later becoming hit singles... "The Source Magazine" ranked him #15 on their list of the Top 50 Lyricists of All Time. His "The Art of Storytelling" paired him with prolific MCs like NAS, Outkast, Raekwon, and Snoop Dogg among others... in the words of Kool Moe Dee "Slick Rick raised the lost art of hip hop storytelling to a level never seen again." Reign Pro: 12 year vets of the Hip-Hop game out of Vancouver, WA. Over the production mastery of DJ Did'He and Sham'Roc the smooth voice of Ayanna Marie and the murderous chops of Killa Cam, Reign Pro brings A Diverse blend of Rap, Hip-Hop, and R&B that don't quit. Rose city Duo: Artists Don Perruco and Skripto iIllist say they are independent artists out of Portland Oregon, trying to make it big and bring Portland on the map ...trying to bring back the old school rap like tupac and biggie... Young Skeezo AreaKode-Assassinz Birthday Boy Mike ThisIsAmerica Cole R.A. Generals and Kutz Ent. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ROOM 2: Drum n Bass Mechwarrior Mechwarrior started promoting and dj'ing in 1996 in Sydney, Australia. After promoting successful techno and DnB events in the World War II-era bunkers that dot Sydney Harbors shoreline as well as venues like The Occidental he switched his focus onto dj'ing. The first promoters to take interest were Junglepunks. Although the name suggests a DnB leaning, the two founders (Jamie 'SpeakaFreaka' Sparks and Alex 'Manson' Morgan) were staunch hard-techno fans and the name came from the outdoor venues used. They saw something in the young dj's techno-influenced sets and he became their first DnB resident. Soon the local strictly-DnB gigs started to flow in after the word had spread. Mechwarrior found himself playing alongside UK heavyweights, and caught the bug to start producing his own music. Getting tips and guidance from Sydney producers Vtek and Raised By Wolves he pieced together a modest set up and set to work, but dj'ing was still his main focus. About this time Mechwarrior made another shift back into promoting, and the Intellect series of events was born at now legendary, but sadly demolished, Sydney venue 61 Regent. In 2000 and 2001, after playing in Vancouver, Canada, Mechwarrior made the decision to move across the Pacific in June 2002. From the get-go Mechwarrior was busy. Attending college for audio engineering and post-production by day, and by night playing the local clubs and parties. For whatever reason, most of Mechwarriors dj success was down in the United States...especially in Seattle, where he was virtually a local for the amount of bookings he recieved. He soon teamed up with Vancouver dj and producer Psidream and the two began producing music and presenting Overload Radio together. What followed was many co-headling sets in Vancouver and Seattle and three hard-hitting tunes signed by Barcode Recordings...Stitches, Last Walk and Pressure Point which were later licenced by Renegade Hardware. The duo also signed music to Dj Traces DSCI4 Recordings and Dylan's Outbreak Recordings but, unfortunately those were never released. In 2005 Mechwarrior took a large step back from producing and dj'ing , but still took select dj bookings in the U.S and Australia to keep his musical spark alive. Over the last few years, he has made a resurgence. Actively promoting again in Vancouver with fellow Australian, Adrian 'Element MC' Farfan under the name Fractured Technique, the two have brought a slew of up-front headliners due through town including Alix Perez (Shogun Audio), Commix (Metalheadz), Icicle (Shogun Audio), Loxy (Metalheadz, Cylon Recordings), Dj Distance (Chestplate), N-type Hatcha & MC Crazy D (Sin City Recordings) and dBridge (Exit Recordings). With more tours in the pipeline these two are not content to sit back and relax! Selrahc (Violation/Minority) Selrahc has been mixing records since 1997. He got his start behind the decks in Abilene, Texas of all places. Originally he was a Hip Hop dj but his love of Industrial music influenced his decision to play Jungle/Drum & Bass. As time progressed so did his ability behind the decks. He is known to play on 3 or 4 turntables at once and incorporates scratching and quick mixing during his live sets. Over the years Selrahc has lived in Texas, Okinawa, Japan, Omaha, Nebraska and most recently Seattle, Washington. He frequently plays at Drum & Bass Tuesdays, the longest running Drum & Bass weekly in America. Not satisfied with just being a dj, Selrahc began writing tunes in 2010. His sound is a bit minimal, a bit techy, and a bit liquid but 100% Drum & Bass. Recently he has collaborated with fellow native Drum & Bass dj/producer Simpa. Be on the look out for more from this guy in 2014! Enki Enki a.k.a Rian Jones, from Seattle, Washington has been a long standing pillar in the underground music scene. With solid roots set in hip-hop, he has expanded his musical repertoire to encompass soulful electronic music for a combination that is sure to spark anyones musical interest. Enki first got involved in the community as a promoter. And, although he has always been musically inclined; he started producing underground music in 1998. In 2006, Enki co-founded Soma Events and eventually started a monthly event called Soma Drum and Bass Sessions. In 2010, he began exploring his career as a DJ, and has made a solid reputation for himself in the electronic community. His most celebrated talent on the decks has been his ability to read the crowd and superb musical selection to set the tone for any party. Enki is inspired by the moment, his love for the people and positive energy, and wants to spread joy through music; because life is about being happy. The Dirt Merchant Founder of Portland's solid Drum n Bass Weekly: PROPER MOVEMENT... Kyle has also been tearin' up the scene for like 20 years. As a kid we called him Kyle 13, but he ain't a youngin' no more... The Dirt Merchant is constantly diggin' in the crates like nobody's business. I'm under the impression that you can't be a true-school Junglist w/o a healthy love and respect for Hip-Hop and Reggae. NOBODY I KNOW has more bad hood movies on VHS than this guy. He's a solid turntablist and his skills on the decks, ear for music, and take-no-shit fun-lovin' hooligan attitude seal the deal... Murder-sauce, all up in yer ear holes. Kontagious Proper Movement Co-Conspirator. Joel is a solid junglist with years under his belt. He doesn't talk very much, so we'll just let his music do the talking.
