DANCE SPEAKS presents a performance / lecture by choreographer / dancer Rebecca Jensen.
Born in New Zealand (1988) is a Melbourne based Choreographer, Performer and Teacher. She studied at the Victorian College of the Arts (BA Dance 2009.) Her choreography has been presented at Next Wave Festival and Dance Massive with Sarah Aiken (OVERWORLD 2014, 2015); Lucy Guerin’s Pieces for Small Spaces (Within An Inner 2011); Conduit Arts Gallery (Still Life 2014); MONA FOMA Festival club, Ponderosa Tanzland, Germany and Dallas Texas Womans university (Head Back 2012).
She is a founding member of fantasy light yoga dance party, Deep Soulful Sweats (Next Wave Festival 2014, Festival of Live Art Dance Party 2014, Dark MOFO 2014,2015, Tiny Stadiums 2014); and a regular teacher of public classes at Chunky Move. Her most recent work Pose Band will be presented at Northcote Town Hall in September 2015.
Australia Councils, Art Start and an Ian Potter Cultural Trust travel grant have enabled Rebecca to expand her practice in New York (Performa), Germany (Ponderosa, Tanz Im August), France (PAF), Vienna (Impulstanz), Kassel (Documenta) and Istanbul (Idans). Rebecca is a recipient of the Implustanz DanceWEB scholarship 2015 and will be travelling to Vienna in July. She was a participant in the 2014/15 Motherboard Australia Korea Cultural Exchange program.

Abbott (PHYSICAL FRACTALS 2012, 2013); Balletlab (Above 2010); Phantom Limbs & Luke George (TRTH & FNTSY Best Dance, Melbourne Fringe 2013); Sarah Aiken (Three Short Dances, Keir Choreographic award as dramaturge 2014); Janine Proost (POTENTIAL 2014); Luke George and Natalie Abbott (Experiments in Exchange 2014); she has also worked with Aphids, Ben Speth, Andrew Trealor, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Luke George, Brooke Stamp, musicians Marcos Villalta, Kate Neal and Andras Fox.
