As shared by Jefferson County Humane Society and Jefferson County Animal Shelter:
"1-22-2015, The Jefferson County Humane Officer, Casey L. Robinson responded to a call in Steubenville in reference to a dog that was found deceased inside a home.
When the Humane Officer arrived at the residence, clearly you could see that the home was left unattended. The landlord of the residence located the dog locked in an upstairs bedroom. As you can see from the photos the dog was eating whatever it could to hang on to life, but was unsuccessful.
A Necropsy was completed on the dog. The report shows that the dog’s colon had wood shavings and carpet fibers. The Vets assessment was that the dog had died of starvation, dehydration and exposure."
