A 5k run/walk for acceptance and diversity - May 30, 2015
The Rainbow Run is a 5k fun run/walk that will weave through the streets of downtown Ferndale. Taking place the morning before Ferndale Pride, the run/walk is meant for everyone of all ages who supports diversity and acceptance, everyone who supports anti-bullying programs, and everyone who believes we can not be complete until all persons are included.
This race will be FUN! And you will get MESSY!
Participants will receive white t-shirts with the Rainbow Run logo to wear (a changing tent will be available for women). As participants pass six different stations along the course, volunteers will throw a different colored non-toxic powdered paint at their shirts. By the end of the race, the t-shirts will be decorated with all six colors providing a colorful souvenir of the event.
A family-friendly event, we also have a 2k kid's run/walk (kids of all ages, of course). Strollers are welcome (but no bikes or dogs please).
All proceeds from the event go to four area non-profit organizations: The Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce, the Ferndale Community Foundation, Affirmations and Upstander, an anti-bullying program established by the Friendship Circle.
The run will be loosely timed, but runners will not be placed.
