Calgary’s Rae Spoon is a songwriter, film score composer, music producer, multi-instrumentalist and published author. They have a voice that will stop you in your tracks and a story like no other. Rae started out making folk music, and later added indie-rock, experimental and electronic elements to their sound. The result is strong songwriting with unique instrumentation. They have toured extensively in Canada, the USA, Europe and Australia. Rae has been nominated for the Polaris Music Prize in both 2009 and 2014, as well as for the CBC Radio 3 Bucky Awards. They won the Galaxy Rising Star Award in 2004.
Nika Smith is a folk pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Toronto, Ontario. She performs as a solo artist throughout the GTA and KW region. Off stage, Smith indulges in developing numerous collaborative and solo projects, including Bedknobs & Broomsticks — a three-piece indie pop ensemble with longtime friend and music partner, Jason Cabanaw. Her most recent solo project, The Shaman & The Hunt, is an experimental DIY production that fuses her folk roots with ambient electronic music.
Nika Smith is currently in the process of recording her full-length sophomore album at The Townhouse Recording Facility in Toronto with producer/engineer and fellow musician, Kaleb Hikele of The Sun Harmonic.
