Tickets just $30, and are onsale NOW from Non Stop Tix - https://nonstoptix.com/event/gowi49 Film producer, writer, magazine journalist and legendary rapper in the hip-hop underground, R.A. Thorburn better known to the world as R.A. the Rugged Man, was the target of a nine-label bidding war when just a teenager, and signed to Jive Records in 1992 and Priority/Capital Records in 1998 before going independent in 2004 in which he released his indie hit album "Die, Rugged Man, Die!" which became a worldwide success. R.A.'s musical resume not only speaks for itself, but has resulted in his teaming with some of the greatest artists in rap history - from Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, and the late great Notorious B.I.G. to multi-platinum producers Erick Sermon, Trackmasters, DJ Quick, Alchemist, Havoc, Buckwild, and Ayatolah. He was featured on all of Rawkus' Soundbombing albums alongside Redman, Eminem, and Mos Def; the platinum selling WWF Aggression album which featured Snoop Dogg and Method Man; and can even be heard in the blockbuster video game Tony Hawks Underground. When asked about R.A., The late great Notorious B.I.G. was once quoted as saying, "I thought I was the illest!" In 2004 he released his first album Die, Rugged Man, Die on Brooklyn based label Nature Sounds. Thorburn has cameos in several music videos including Havoc from Mobb Deep's I'm the Boss, Sadat X's Throw the Ball and Old Man featuring Wu-Tang Clan's RZA, Masta Killa and Ol' Dirty Bastard in one of ODB's final video appearances. The October 2006 issue of The Source featured R.A.'s verse on Uncommon Valor: A Vietnam Story as its "Hip-Hop Quotable" of the month and HipHopDX named it as the "Verse of the Year". AllHipHop.com states that "This record will be remembered most for R.A.'s robotic flow recounting his own father's story of war while absolutely murdering the beat." Rolling Stone Magazine recently compared R.A.'s rap flow to that of a blue-eyed Biggie Smalls. When reviewing his song "On the Block", Vibe Magazine said, "I love this song. It give me goosebumps. It's very inventive." R.A’s second studio album Legends Never Die was released on April 30, 2013. Guest appearances include Brother Ali, Masta Ace, Tech N9ne, Talib Kweli, Hopsin, Eamon, and Krizz Kaliko. His first single of the album was 'The Peoples Champ'. The second single was "Learn Truth' Feat. Talib Kweli. Upon release the album debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, number 17 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and at number 131 on the Billboard 200. Shoot Me In The Head is the dynamic single from R.A’s latest album and he will be performing all his hits live in New Zealand this June.
