Hi folks. LeighAnne Bernard and I met with Erick Knezek today, at his request, to discuss rezoning. He did confirm that rezoning WILL occur. It is very likely that all schools will be affected, with some experiencing more change than others. It is my understanding that, as of yet, no definitive decisions have been made as to which schools will be impacted the most. There are also obvious external factors that will have to be considered, such as schools of choice, specialized programs (i.e. Gifted, ESL, etc.) and school choice (aka "bussing in"). All of these points of consideration must be thoroughly examined and weighed when making decisions. There is also talk of forming a committee of parents to offer input and suggestions during this process.
If you have a stake in this matter and have questions and/or concerns, please make every effort to attend the meeting Sunday. I am posting the meeting as an event open to the public so that we will have a better idea of how many people are interested in attending and can best determine the format that will get the most addressed in a reasonable amount of time. I have left the event open so you can invite anyone you feel may be interested in joining us. Again, this does not just apply to our specific schools.
Please indicate whether you plan to attend so we can prepare accordingly.
Thanks and have a nice evening!
