Ed Husic is a leading figure in politics and has been written in various publications such as the Australian Financial Review. During this Public Forum, Ed will discuss his take on the role that government plays in innovation and technology.
Ed Husic is an Australian federal politician, a member of the Australian House of Representatives, and was elected to represent the seat of Chifley in western Sydney for the Australian Labor Party at the 2010 federal election. Since his election, Ed’s parliamentary interest and focus has been in areas designed to strengthen the growth of Australia’s digital economy. In 2013 he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Parliamentary Secretary for Broadband. Ed's promotion built on his strong record in this area. He was previously the Secretary of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party’s Economics, Productivity, Innovation and Industry Committee. He also sat on both the Joint Committee for the NBN and the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Infrastructure and Communications. Locally, he has spoken up for the need for improved broadband, infrastructure, education, health and community services.
