Presence of an absence aims to bring awareness to the loss of life at the hands of violence around the world. By exhibiting work from Mexican artists who share their own experiences of violence and loss, we aim to open conversations about gender issues, corruption loss and survival. The fact that these issues are affecting people on the other side of the world, does not mean it does not affect us as a society. A life is important no matter of its geography. Hundreds of women are murdered in domestic violence incidents in the UK each year and no one seems to do much to protect them. We wish to create strong international links through art so we can bring awareness and support one another because regardless of our geographical location we are all humans and we deserve to feel safe.
