“Pile’s new album, You’re Better Than This, will be released March 3rd on the Brooklyn DIY label Exploding in Sound Records. EiS and Pile are both known for their guitar-driven indie rock, but Pile drives faster, harder, stronger than anyone else, and on a wildly different course.
I struggle putting Pile into words without using strange metaphors: They sound like a man falling from the top of the Empire State Building and landing safely on his feet only to get run over by a car; they’re a guitar band that doesn’t sound like a guitar band; there’s something intense and brave about them, but it feels feminine, not macho, not over the top. I don’t feel good at explaining what Pile sounds like.” – Consequence of Sound
“Pile, among the brightest of Boston's bursting subterrane, makes waltz-time, feel-bad guitar music that is gothic in the non-eyeliner sense: angular songs express the sort of specific, primal anxieties that litter a liberal-arts undergrad's coursework. “ – The Boston Phoenix
