On May 28th, 2015 600 philanthropists, community leaders and businessmen and women will gather to celebrate the fifth installment of the “PhilantroGuia Awards” at the UM Maurice Gusman Concert Hall (1314 Miller Drive, Coral Gables, Florida) to recognize Latinamerican men and women whose lives are an example of philanthropy in action. This year, the awards celebration will include a concert by World Music 5, featuring GRAMMY Awards Winners and Nominees Federico Britos, Negroni Trio, Ed Calle, with special guests Maria Rivas and Roberto Perera. PhilantroGuia is devoted to guiding Latinoamerican people in South Florida, on their path to finding the unique form of fulfillment that active and organized giving provides. We offer information about the different types of organizations involved in philanthropy and the causes that they foster, so that everyone may identify what appeals the most to their interests and sensibilities. We also describe the various forms of giving available, whether in the form of time, talent, funding or gifts-in-kind. We also recognize every year two Latinamerican individuals in South Florida whose philanthropic activities have had a positive impact on the welfare of our community. This year, we are proud to join efforts with Ashoka, to recognize an outstanding entrepreneur leader in investments of social impact. AWARDS: Líder Latinoamericano en Filantropia Award: This award recognizes a Latin-American person, who have shown proven leadership in the area of philanthropy in our community, with consistency through the years, whether recognized publicly or not. Leadership in promoting humanity’s welfare is one of the most valuable assets anyone can bring to philanthropy. Ruben Rótulo - Sembrando Semillas Award: This award recognizes a Latin-American person who, with limited resources, have dedicated themselves to philanthropic causes. It is presented to individuals who through volunteerism impact the lives of those in need in the community and do so as part of a formal or informal organization. Volunteerism brings the best in us by providing us with the means to selfless acts of kindness. Philantroguia – Ashoka Empresario Latinoamericano Líder en Impacto Social: This is a Latin-American person, that is highly regarded, innovative leader who is in the midst of a successful career and eager to contribute to positive social change with her or his time, resources and networks. This individual thrives on challenges and recognizes that no social solution will reach its fullest potential without the support of leaders from other sectors.
