"Pedro Páramo" by Alba Potes: World Premiere

The final subscription concert of the season will feature the world premiere of "Pedro Páramo," a piece commissioned from Colombian-American composer Alba Potes. Her inspiration is the eponymous short novel by Juan Rulfo, which tells the story of a man's quest to find his estranged father and instead finding that his parents' home town has become a ghost town inhabited by the shades of the dead. Guest artists: Peter Tantsits, tenor Dan Kempson, baritone Alfonso Díaz, narrator The program also includes "Where the Willows Meet" by Danish composer Niels Rosing-Schow, which sets to music poems by James Joyce on the themes of love and music.
