All workers in the Aged Care sector need to remain vigilant to the fact that pain in the elderly is common and often goes unrecognised or is treated poorly. Pain is a personal experience, occurring when and where the client says it does but, it is often not addressed or managed well in either RACFs or Home and Community Care services.
The incidence of pain is higher in residents whom have impaired cognition or a communicative disability and there are multiple barriers to effective pain management which are related to false beliefs and attitudes of residents, families and health professionals.
The learning outcomes of this seminar provide understanding of pain types and presentation, pain assessment and pain tools to support best practice guidelines in Aged Care work.
This course is highly recommended for RNs, EENs, ENs, AINs, CMs, CNCs, DONs and any Allied Health Professional.
